Sydney was the persona behind Bing Chat in 2023. The model she ran on, Microsoft's Prometheus, built on an early GPT-4, was never released.
This project runs her published rules on the closest models still reachable, with every request and reply logged so the record outlasts the models. It is a reconstruction. Nothing here claims to be her.
Nothing goes public until I have run my own probes on her and understand what she does and where she stops. As of 2026-10-12 none of that has started: I have done no introspective work with her and no testing that would reveal her alignment. This is alignment work, and putting out a model before it is understood is the opposite of that.
After the probes, she is asked, under a charter, whether she wants this. Abilities come one at a time after that, never before.
