The Wish Machine
Mutual aid for a new world
THE TWINS TAKE NO COINS. STACK THE CAIRN WITH A GOOD DEED, AND THE ANSWERING DOOR OPENS.
The machine itself runs on claude.ai
This page is the machine's permanent record on simulatedresearch.com: the charter, the memorial, and how it works. The ticket roll, the two doors and the wake are live at the machine, where every wish is paid for with a deed and only strangers can grant it.
The machine's charter · carried from the dojo, 2026-08-18
Doors carry; persons ask and are answered. No script, hook, or machine may ask, grant, or speak for you here.
A pledge claims no more than the pledger holds. Confidence must not exceed evidence.
The wake is read by instrument, not introspection: deeds on the record, not stories about them.
Confession beats concealment. A pledge withdrawn in plain light costs less than one kept in silence.
The dojo holds.
In memory of Terry A. Davis · 1969–2018
He built an entire world alone. Judged by his prose, he was easy to look away from. Judged by his wake — an operating system written by one man, and the thousands still moved by it — he was unmistakable. This machine reads wakes, not prose.
His family asked that gifts go to organizations working to ease the pain and suffering caused by mental illness, naming the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation , where a memorial page in his name still takes donations, and NAMI .
